Website Founder and Veterinarian
Dr. Wendy A Shiao, VMD
Wendy received her bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science from the University of Arizona in 1990, and her doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She has held a veterinary license in the State of Pennsylvania ever since 1995. She worked as a veterinary assistant part-time in two different small animal practices while she was a veterinary student, and worked as a veterinarian in her own small-scale house-call practice in Pennsylvania briefly after school, but took a break to start a family, and then decided to switch to her other passion doing computer programming/software development which allows her more flexible work hours to better care for her little ones. She might return to veterinary practice at some point in the future, but in the meantime she created this website in March of 2016 to combine her two loves: animals and computers, to provide information and tools that help others take better care of their pets.

Cooper
Cooper is a 16-year-old
male Rhodesian Ridgeback who was adopted from a Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue when he was a year and a half. His previous family purchased him as a puppy from a breeder but gave him up when they had a new baby. Ironically, he is exceptionally good with children - both the children in his lucky new family and other children who come over to visit/play, and loves going to the school bus stop in the morning to see all the neighborhood children off to school.
Cooper loves squeaky toys and food - his favorite pasttime is stealing food from both the humans and the cats.

Leaf
Leaf is a 10-year-old
male domestic shorthair who was originally a feral cat and a trap-neuter-return candidate, but due to his sweet nature and how much he loved living inside a warm house, his rescuer changed her mind about releasing him back into the wild and found a home for him instead. He's very sweet with humans and the dog in his family, but when it comes to strangers, his motto is "hide first and ask questions later", probably due to his kittenhood of having to fend for himself in the wild.
His favorite toys indoors are rubber bands and Nerf bullets. The latter need to be hidden from him due to him tearing up and eating the foam pieces, but he's very good at hunting for them and still manages to get some from time to time. His family built an outdoor enclosure for him so he can have a safe place outside to hang out. He loves catching bugs outside and on windy days chasing leaves that get blown around. When his human mom's not looking, he loves to dig in her container vegetable and fruit garden, the one he's supposed to be protecting from the birds.

Lettuce
Lettuce is a 8-year-old
male domestic shorthair who was originally a feral cat and was picked up by a rescue group in Virginia and adopted out through PetFinder. He was adopted to be Leaf's playmate and was chosen specifically for his easy-going temperature to be sure that he would get along with both Cooper and Leaf. His humans learned through his foster family that he likes everybody and gets along with everybody, including humans, dogs, cats - even a resident mean cat at the foster home who hates everyone.
His favorite toys indoors are ponytail holders and wand toys with feather attachments. He spents two-thirds of his waking hours begging for food politely and often succeeds. He also loves to hang out in the outdoor enclosure with Leaf, especially in the early morning hours when the birds are most active, or late at night when he watches for neighborhood strays or outdoor cats who might wander through the yard.
